Once a challenge has been identified in collaboration with the relevant ecosystem actors, it is essential to engage a multidisciplinary team of researchers for the co-creation of solutions and ideas that effectively address the challenge. This approach is applicable to any process of knowledge valorisation or open innovation, where generating impactful solutions requires diverse expertise and perspectives.

Most processes to come up with solutions for societal challenges rely on the collaboration of multidisciplinary research teams. The European Commission explicitly prioritizes such collaborations in its guidance on knowledge valorisation, recognizing the many benefits they bring, including broader perspectives, increased creativity, and more robust outcomes.

However, engaging researchers can sometimes be challenging. It is therefore important to clearly communicate the value and opportunities that participation in these processes can offer.

To support this, we have developed a set of practical resources (available in the supporting documents section), based on lessons learned from the implementation of Kaleidos, to guide you in effectively engaging researchers and facilitating the co-creation of innovative solutions.
